Mitsubishi Mirage G4: A Budget Friendly Compact Ride

For budget-minded car buyers, the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 presents a compelling alternative. This subcompact sedan, also available as a four-door hatchback, features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 78 horsepower and continuously variable automatic transmission.

The Mirage features two years of limited free maintenance, including oil and filter changes and tire rotations, as do all new Mitsubishi vehicles. Models with the LE trim get additional standard features, including rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and a driver-seat armrest.

Standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition and automatic climate control.

For safety, the Mirage offers emergency braking and pedestrian detection

Optional features include LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, automatic high-beam headlights and heated front seats, push-button start and lane-departure warning.

The Mirage provides budget friendly transportation with a substantial 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. It also deserves praise for its fuel economy, rated at 35 mpg city, 41 highway by EPA. The downside to that is that the engine lacks power. It will struggle to get up to highway speed rapidly. Also, the cabin is noisy.

But with a starting price of around $18,000, if saving money is high on your priority list, the Mirage deserves a look.
